Onlays & Inlays
Most people don't really know what dental inlays and onlays are. Porcelain inlays and onlays are dental restorations that are placed in decayed or damaged spots when a whole crown isn't required.
Inlays and onlays can be used to replace fillings – in fact, you can think of an inlay or onlay like a filling created in a dental lab rather than made from a malleable filling material chairside. Our porcelain inlays and onlays will help you when you have a very large cavity that cannot successfully be restored with a dental filling.
Porcelain crowns, inlays, and onlays require about two appointments, allowing us to assess your damage, prepare your tooth for placement, make a mold, and send our information along with the mold to a dental lab. The creation process might take a couple of weeks, during which time you'll wear a temporary restoration. Then, when your new porcelain crown, inlay, or onlay is ready, we cement it to your tooth, sealing out damage and making your tooth whole and complete once again.
